Medium Day 2024 — I’ve Been Selected as a Session Speaker!
I’m thrilled to announce my participation in Medium.com’s second-annual Medium Day Writers Conference on August 17, 2024!
This exciting, free event brings together the vibrant Medium community to inspire, inform, and empower each other. The conference runs from 9 AM ET to 6 PM ET and will be held live online, making it accessible to everyone.
I am particularly excited about my session, titled “Writing Through the Storm” Scheduled from 4:00 to 4:30 PM ET (1:00 to 1:30 PM PDT), this session will delve into the untold stories that linger within us, especially those of us with marginalized experiences and identities.
We will revisit, reframe, and revise our experiences to craft narratives that serve us, building a one-of-a-kind portfolio of work, which we can share or keep for us.
My journey as an author began with my first book, Views from the Cockpit (2019), inspired by the need to find air and release from my crumbling world that resulted after my father’s passing and the discovery of his elder abuse.
This work paved the way for a public revelation that I have been bisexual this whole time. While acknowledging this truth was important and freeing, I realized how stress and anxiety get trapped in our bodies. I realized the next storm and life event is always right around the corner. Developing a safe coping mechanism is critical but also creates opportunity. Releasing these emotions through words not only frees us but also inspires others who are watching.
Each session at Medium Day features a short expert talk followed by an interactive Q&A, ensuring that attendees walk away with new insights and meaningful engagement with speakers. This is an event you won’t want to miss.
