How Heavy Is Your World? (Bi+ Poetry)
The fear of being misunderstood paints tears on the bravest faces… instills doubt in the clearest minds.
The weight of misinterpretation — the “sincere ignorance” — is unbearable to the bravest hearts, it breaks the strongest men, casting shadows of our true selves against the graves of our ancestors — the ones who bled for our freedom and fought for our voices — the same ones who abandoned us on the road to meet white Jesus.
Unrealized dreams of who we could be
A prisoner of our thoughts
Their weight on our backs
Your weight on my back
Their knees on our necks
Your knee on my neck
No need for discretion
Forgotten or erased, it doesn’t matter
The root of absence is absence
Cloaked in love
Greeted with hate
Or at least waiting for true thoughts to be revealed when I make you angry.
Countdown!
I am black
I am bisexual
I am man
I am him
I am the world on his back
How heavy is your world?
