An Elusive Mountain (Poem)

In the shadowed valleys, under the vast sky, I wander, seeking peaks.

Each mountain, a towering enigma, promises answers, yet births more questions.

Can I go further?

Can I push harder?

What more is there?

With each ascent, my heart dances, Yet the summit reveals another crest through the fog, distant and taunting.

Every mountain climbed unravels into more, unseen, unattained.

In these pursuits, I’ve discovered sorrow intimately, The ache of will, the heaviness of an unfulfilled soul. A sense that something is always missing. A gap. A hole in my heart with no one to blame.

Amidst the chase, a truth unfolds — The answer lies not in the ceaseless striving but in repose.

An eagle understands, Gliding above it all, it beholds the world with a perspective so rare.

For in the elusive nature of these giant mountains, Lies the beauty of existence.

Life, like mountains, is a series of ascents and descents, A domino of trials, triumphs, interludes, and endings. And they hurt — deeply. But with each step forward, I am restored.

We are all climbers, hoping for peaks we’ll never reach, but in this quest, the act of doing, we find our most profound joy.

So I embrace the elusive mountain, For it mirrors life’s unfathomable design.

And in this acceptance, I find glimpses of peace, I honor my strength, Knowing that the next peak awaits and I am wiser if I keep moving.

And if I dare to look back, I will celebrate how far I’ve come.
